I don't know what part of Minnesota your in but I live in the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities and I dumpster dove at all the new construction sites and picked up free plywood for my forms. Regular white glue worked just fine. You don't need to use so much that it drips all over. The initial planing will remove the excess and so you won't load up the paper at all. The guilllemot I built has a recessed cockpit deck which I used hot melt on. I found that the hotmelt was fine provided I smeared the excess off while still soft. Otherwise it is a real problem to sand. I purchased my wood at Sheer Bros Lumber in NE Mpls. I got 1x12x20' redwood and clear pine with NO knots. The spotted owl is extra.
