Good for emergencies, I hope (knock wood) not to sand through.

Yes! Fairly regular, sure. That is they're all difficult, all curving. I think I'll try both the black with epoxy or wood glue for the shadow thang, or use some of the stain remaining from the original work on the outer boards to try to match the dark parts. I certainly don't want to make the line of the curve made by the edge of the inside light part appear any different. I like the smooth sine wave effect. And filling in dark UP TO that edge should be pretty simple. Matching, or getting close to the color would be the toughest.

Absolutely. But I have NO epoxy/fiberglass experience yet, and I am given to understand that the epoxy, unthickened runs like water. I need to find a way to keep the sealer coat from raining down onto the floor. Perhaps sealing the inside of hull/deck with some barrier, tape, paper, saran wrap, tin foil, etc. then applying seal coat to exterior of hull/deck, waiting for epoxy to cure, then removing the barrier on the inside.
