I've never used the type of tape you describe, but it's my understanding that the binding filaments used don't go clear with epoxy (they're only disolved if you're using polyesther resin). You should consider buying plain cloth tape. I used 3" wide tape for my interior seams. For the external seams, I cut bias strips from the cloth I used on the rest of the boat. Check with Raka or Defender for inexpensive cloth tape.
