Some VERY good suggestions in this long thread. My addition is to suggest a quarter sheet finish sander. I use a Porter Cable that uses 1/4 of a standard sheet of paper. Buying regular full sheet paper, whether its open coat, cloth backed or whatever, is generally less expensive then buying the discs and hook and loop papers (my sander accepts hook & loop also). I was able to find 3M paper in bulk for 20 cents a full sheet, including cloth backed and wet/dry, or 5 cents every time you change a sheet on the sander. The finish sanders are a little less agressive then the RO's, but that can be a good thing if you havent a lot of experience with them (like me).
