One of the supposed benefits of the seal coat is a slightly lighter boat because you avoid epoxy starvation in the cloth caused by particularly thirsty wood underneath. Just apply one seal coat to the wood and leave it. Apply the cloth and wet-out after the seal coat is partially cured (to green state), and wood will not soak up any more epoxy.
