Randy - This brings up an interesting point. From what I can tell, kayak designs seem, for the most part, to be split into two extremes...sea kayaks, and whitewater kayaks. For the last year, I've been trying to find a design for a "hybrid" kayak.(I don't think CLC's Mill Creek models fit this description...they're too much like a decked canoe, rather than a real kayak.)Like the original poster of this thread, I do not paddle on large open water, nor do I paddle in true "whitewater". For the most part, I paddle medium size, swift rivers that have an occasional rapids, but no real whitewater. What I need is a "hybrid" design...wider than a sea kayak and with more rocker, but with LESS rocker than a true whitewater kayak. In commercial kayaks, the only company that seems to be addressing this need is Prijon...they make a couple "hybrid" designs(the "Taifun Tour" and the "Yukon Expedition"). I wish one of the kayak kit manufacturers would develop something along these lines.
