Where I live we talk about glass cloth as, say 600g, meaning 600g for one square meter.

Now, I need to convert 6 Oz glass cloth to the way we speak. Is it ounces? And can you please tell me what aerea is involved?

I might guess that 600g for one squared meter is a bit heavy for a light kayak, but then again, this cloth looks this way to me, but then again, I have no experience. I am planning my first project.
