While it's certainly true that boats with fewer curves are easier to build, it's nowhere near impossible to build a like the Guillemot. Building strip boat is more time consuming compared to a stitch and glue, but doesn't take much (if any) more woodworking experience, it just takes more time. I've topped 300 hours on my Guillemot (over a period of 7-8 months). The amount of woodworking skills required is not that great. Get your hands on a copy of Nick's book to see all the steps involved. I think that if you consider each step individually, you'll find that building a Guillemot is within your reach.
