Pygmy does sell plans but only for certain boats. The older ones in their line. The Queen Charlotte, Golden Eye, and Osprey Double and Triple. Pygmy is close to where I live and I was very pleased with there service when I went into their shop, although I could not test out a boat the day that I went there. It was so windy there were whitecaps in the marina. I wanted to build from plans too, but I really liked the Arctic Tern. I went with the kit so that I could get the boat that I wanted. I am very happy with it, except that my wife likes it so much that she paddles it whenever we go out together. I'm now working on a second boat, quick and cheap, the Walrus from Putz's book. I'll build a third this winter. Either a baidarka, a strip built, or another Pygmy.

I have no experience with CLC's boats. I almost built the Yare from Chris's book. I'm glad I didn't. I've heard that it has some performance problems. I'm sure CLC's newer boats are better than the Yare, but have not paddled them. My advice is to find a boat you like, and build it in the way that is available to you.
