> Nathan To flatten- Get a piece of plate glass(preferably free,glue on some 80 grit silicon carbide paper with sanding disc adhesive,add oil to lube,and wail away till smooth. As to the sharpener jig ,Veritas makes a dandy,and with theangle setting jig(very worthwhile),is less than $30 USA
