I'm 6'5 225# size 13. I had these concerns myself so I built the first boat, a Guillemot, for my wife and I fit in it just fine. I did not make any modifications to the plans as far a cockpit size goes. I am now building (almost done) a Night Heron and although it is 1" narrower in the beam, I'm sure I'll fit comfortably.
