I have some woodworking experience too. My first boat was a Pygmy Arctic Tern. It required virtually no woodworking, but I learned how to fiberglass a boat. It was almost too easy. I love the boat and so does my wife. I am currently building a skin on frame. That is the cheapest route, and it lets my do some woodworking. I am almost done with the frame. So far it has been fun and fairly easy. I plan on doing a strip kayak this winter. If you want to do some woodworking, look at Putz's "Wood and Canvas Kayak Building" and Brink's "The Alutian Kayak". For strip building pick up Nick's book "The Strip-Built Kayak".
