Meranti plywood?

Does anyone know anything about marine grade Meranti plywood? My supplier said his Okume source was slow but he could get this other stuff called Meranti in marine grade. How do the two compare? Strength, weight, taking epoxy. For S&G boats. Thanks. Grant
