I used to use a B&D orbital and it always left swirl marks in whatever I sanded. I loaned it to someone and never got it back. I bought a Porter Cable random orbital, and am very glad I loaned out my old sander. The random orbital with velcro pads and dust collection is great, no swirl marks, much faster, and a source for wood flour. Get a nice random orbital and don't loan it out, you wont regret it.
