CLoth deck to save money when testing designs?

I really got interested when reading (in this forum) the short thread on Aircraft Dacron for deck.
There may be cheaper decks which may be made by cloth.
Making the hull the stitch and glue way, or even stripbuilding the hull, and using deck beams and methods from skin & frame kayaks for the deck suddenly started to make a bit of sense:
No problems caused by sand between frame and cloth in kayak bottom like with skin and frame only kayaks. Light weigth. Less costly kayak because of less epoxy, less okume, ... Interesting looks,...
Are there contributors to this forum which has tried to build kayaks this way?
