For real light weight don't us any cloth at all. Two layers of tape on the outside of every seam is ok. on the inside it is ok with just filler and epoxy. Exept at the cockpit area where you can apply tape. For thin coats, apply the epoxy with a roller. Two coats will do just fine.

If this sounds scarry to you wait untill the weekend. With some luck I will have my new kayak in the water then. And it is built like this
