I built a Jam 8 about a year ago. It's a fine little boat, just don't expect to get anywhere very fast in it. Last month I completed a 12 foot version of it. I modified, "stretched" the Jam 8 plans to 12 feet long and about 26 inches wide. If you make the bow something like a Chesapeake it looks really good. Estimate the placement of the cockpit the same relationship as in the 8 footer. If you want to make it as cheap as possible use exterior lauan, like I did, but it makes it kind of heavy, almost 50 pounds. Okoume would have been much better but costs at least three times as much. The boat tracks and turns just fine.
