I was driving through the parking lot at the local ski resort in April before Trip #4 with my skis on one side of the rack, and my Chesapeake 17 on the other. A lady stopped me and asked,"Chesapeake?" I was like "(pause) yeah..how did you know?" She said that she'd lived in Maryland for several years. In the year since I built my boat, people have not only moved from "Is that really wood?" to "Do you like stitch&glue?" but even asked me about the design of the Chesapeake. Of course, some folks still ask,"Is that really a wood kayak?"
