Dzus fasteners are used in aircraft and automotive applications where easy or fast removal of panels are required. Have you ever watched a Nascar race of drag race on TV and noticed the hundreds of little silver fasteners on the side panels or windows? Those are Dzus fasteners. They work by having a recepticle mounted on the frame or base material and another "anchor" mounted to the panel. They only take 1/4 turn to open/close. I have used them for the flush hatches on my yare. The many different types available can be a little confusing so here is a link to the manufacturer. If it works right it will take you to the model that i used on the yare. They have many uses in kayak construction. I've even used them for removeable tie down locations. I'm sure everyone has ideas of their own. Go check em out!
