I put a Guzzler in my Chesapeake 18. I reinforced my front bulkhead with extra laminated braces and mounted the pump nearly vertical (about 15 degrees off?). I made a combination compass mount and flapper valve cover on my deck.

Rather than snake hcses all over, I only have an inch and half extension on the outgo side and a half inch extension on the intake to the bottom of the boat. The difference between the front bulkhead and my seat will only hold about a quart or two of water when my boat is trimmed correctly.

I have a one inch square strip with spaced holes from the bulkhead back to my seat that I can clip any thing in my cockpit to for security. I can also mount different sized blocks in front of the pump spring to push on for various leg lengths. This way the pump mount doesn't have to be adjustable
