One part is pop riveted under the deck and serves the same function as a nut and lock washer. The only difference is that only a 1/4 turn is required to lock and tighten the part. The other part looks like a special type of bolt that only requires a 1/4 turn to fully tighten To use these fasteners you drill holes in your deck and hatch just like you would do if thru bolting. You capture the nut assembly to the underside of the deck with pop rivets The "bolt" goes in the hatch and is loosely held by a captive washer on the bottom side of the hatch. The captive washer is press fit over the end of the "bolt" which is wider than the rest of the shaft and this prevents the "bolt" from being lost when the hatch is off.
