cont'd from 4/12:
Clip On and Jam Fittings:
Well, take these for what they're worth as there are few problems w/ all or them - some are raised, some don't take side pressure too much - but there is still some kernel of possibility lying around. Besides, there are so many configurations of these that it's kind of fun to figger a few of them out.
The first type involves a narrow slot used to mount and dismount the slipped on fitting shown.
The second type is just a backed up hole that a floppy fitting clips into. And the third type uses a wedge slot that a fitting or deck line jams into.
In summary of these ideas, my money goes on the minimal web loop of the "Invisible" or the simple non-articulated "Recessed Padeye"; but I'm still intrigued by all the other possibilities and whatever else is out there.
The idea I'm trying to reach for is a working fitting that is as minimal as possible - for I believe that humps and bumps and loops and blobs are an aesthetic and visual distraction from the beautiful lines of kayaks.
see dwg 6 for a slight diversion
