Hi Kara,
I have been using the West Systems products (specifically their 105 resin, 206 slow hardener and various fillers) and have no complaints.
They have a lot of information on their web site (http://www.westsystem.com/) that is applicable to working with epoxy resin and fiberglass in general - worth while reading.
I don't know how the West epoxy is for blushing because I have not used anything else to compare it to. Can anybody comment on this product?
As a general rule, unless I am laying up successive coats, I presume that a blush or some other contamination is present and take the appropriate steps. You can never know what has been transferred to the kayak surface by someone touching it (suntan lotion is bad). The time it takes to clean the surface is a lot less that the time to repair "fisheyes" and such.
Hope this is of help.
Hank
