I came up with this method 4 years ago and wrote it up in wooden boat and a few other places. It works really great. I use 2 inch tape fastened half it's width to the hull with a dab of hot melt glue every 6" or so. When you put the deck on just make sure you don't pinch the tape by using a putty knife to push it in as you tape the deck and hull together. Rig you saw horses so it holds your boat on it's side. I slant each end down to the floor when I wet out each end so the epoxy tends to flow towared the tips. Let one side cure overnight then do the other side. You can use a brush on a stick. I tape a bent piece of metal to the stick and a 1 inch brush to that. This way I make a slight angle on the brush. Cut off the handle and just tape on the brush end.
I also use some thickened some epoxy on the tips before I complete binding the deck and hull together.
