> Mike I had thought of using some type of waterproof roof coating but was unsure of how it would be affected by the sun(would it get sticky) what I ended up using was a thin coating of a UV activated plastic body filler that is made by the Bondo company, found at K-mart for about $9.99 a quart, it spreads smooth, can be sanded, takes paint well and does not crack unless you put it on to thick, I did a test piece and found it was quite tough, I then used a waterborn acrylic paint over it,(don't know how that will hold up we'll see).The key thing was that the resin didn't set up until it was placed in the sun for about 20-30 minutes, it gives you some time to work
