did any of you see the recent WoodenBoat article on making hollow spars ? why couldn't that method be used for paddle shafts ? anyone tried it yet ? on smoothing the shaft, they said they sometines used a sanding belt turned inside-out. the fastest way I found to round a shaft was a small spoke shave.
