I highly recommend Paddling it before you voarnish or paint it. I did not and my first coat of varnish didn't dry. Paddle for about a month then wash it thoroughly before varnishing. Just don't store your boat in the sun the whole time. Pygmy recommends paddling for at least a month before varnishing. (They use System 3 Epoxy)
