Well, like I said, the boat weighs a portly 70 lbs.

To guess, I doubt I picked up any more then 10 lbs from the luan. When the boat was in the sewn together stage it was still feather light. Involving several chases when a breeze would pick it up. I had to weigh it down with cinderblocks and such while stitching it. I've picked up the marine okum sheets, and they didn't weigh appreciably different amounts to the luan. But I'd qualify that by saying that wood and moisture vary tremendiously for thousands of reasons. I was very picky about the laun I used.

Don't discount my glassing as simply one layer in and out. Like I said, I stuck a lot of layers of glass on the hull. Total absurd overkill I now understand, even for a ham fisted fella like myself. But at the time of building, I didn't understand that. So I get a workout by picking that boat up. From my overskinning of the boat, I probably picked up another 10-15 lbs.

I also screwed up my end pours, and probably gained yet another 10-15 lbs there as well. I haven't seen it suggested for a while, but someone advised using a cardboard template to form a mould you pour the epoxy into. A very good idea in my opinion. Doing so would have saved me quit a bit of needless weight. Again, I was scared of bashing and wear, so not only did I do mine rather slopily, but I did it with even more absurd overkill then my excessive skinning.

If I were more carefull with my trim wood pieces, I might have been able to shave off maybe 5 lbs. There's quite a bit of heavy wood in there (oak, etc) because I either liked it's looks, had it laying around, or wanted extra strength. But with more care I could have gone lighter, dryer, and shaved/trimmed/sanded/etc the shape down to a lighter weighing profile.

If I were to build a s&g Millcreek again, I'd use a lot less glass, probably no end pour at the bow, and a minimal one in the stern for the rudder. I still think CLC's numbers for weight are artificially low (does that even include the seat?), but I could get a whole lot closer then my current rendition is.
