Stitch & Glue Lantern Case

I built these about 3 months ago, but just got the film developed.

I used 1/4" underlayment Lauan for the sides. 3/4" AC forms the base, rabbetted for the sides and grooved for the base of the lantern.

I mitered and rabbetted pieces of pine for the cornerss, and epoxied and stitched everything together. I pulled the wires when the epoxy cured, but it made it a bit tougher to fill the holes.

I used some scraps of 6mm okoume for the lids, and epoxied on a strip around the inside that fits snugly inside the box.

I still need to add a strip of weatherstripping around the edge of the lid and add a strap with a side-release buckle to attach the lid, hatch-style.
