In Response To: Refloating an old idea (Paul Jacobson)

Mr Jacobson,you've obviously thought about this a bit. Why butt joints rather than scarfs? I like the idea of fiberglassing, or if you will constructing a composite panel prior to assembly. May answer the concern of lessened inherent rigidity of whole wood versus plywood. You seem to think in terms of strip built boats, but what if you applied this to a 2 panel S&G hull? Using full length clear wood? Have you, or anyone tried something like this? I appreciate the responses recieved so far. Definetly an interesting line of inquiry. Mark
