Great thread!!!!

I have made 6 S&G kayaks (from scratch, not kits). Of these I have sold 2 for $20 more than I had in materials. I then sold 3 others for $400 over what I put in them for materials. I'm not trying to make a living at this. All I want is to build a boat, use it for a year (2 months in once case) to see how I like it and see if I get a buyer. If I can make a little money at it great. I enjoy the building process so much it really doesn't matter if I make a whole lot or not. So far I have been lucky and basically have been able to make boats that in then end don't cost me anything except time (which I consider free because I really enjoy the building process). I figure in the course of 5 years I have made 6 kayaks, learned an awful lot, and made about $1200 while I enjoyed what I was doing. Next will be strip boats and I have already had an offer and the return on that boat will be similar to the past 3 I sold. Not bad, especially since it will be my first strip boat.
