Dave,

How much is probably a function of how many buyers there are where you live as well as the intrinsic value of your Yare. Not sure if you checked the LONG dialog on this issue dated a couple weeks ago. There are probably more people looking for a "kayak" of any kind than there are people looking for a handbuilt kayak. Your yare fits a smaller subset of types of wood/epoxy kayaks. One of the ways to find out what it is worth is putting up ads at bulletin boards of business that sell paddling gear. I think it takes a lot of marketing or reputation as a boatbuilder to sell your one-off anything close to the retail price of a glass boat. I tried selling my 2-yearold patuxent back in the SF area for $1100 and got a few responses, this with ads in business bulletin boards with lots of foot-traffic. ie.REI,Marmot Mtn. Works,Sea Trek (kayak rental, instruction, tours) I sold it eventually for $500. So either this is a market with lots of boats, low income (Marin county?)a reflection of the low demand for one-offs,my poor sales manner, beginners boat quality,or?

My experience with selling uncommon items is that you keep it around and some day the person looking just for that type of thing comes along and they will buy it for a little more than the person looking for any "kayak" at a "great price" good luck and have fun on your next boat.
