I like yakima aluminum footbraces. the perception/keeper(?) plastic type found on aquaterra boats can pop off with hard use, the aluminum ones are hard to adjust when stuck with sand. just installed a backband I got from the paddle shop near here,Springriver, I think the name is "Bomber" not sure again. it is arched near the top and is great. there are some backbands that don't have sufficient stiffeners and are no better than 2" webbing. personal bias here but I think that a good placement is more important than getting a "sea kayak" model over a "whitewater" model. I made a back band out of a molded piece of fibreglass and that took care of the two worn spots in my skin that I used to get from hard backrests.
