I'll second the recommendation on the Yakima aluminum foot braces...easy to install epoxy to blocks and then to the inside of the hull (i.e., no thru hull connections) and adjust on the go...

To save weight, some folks position the front bulkhead fairly close to their feet and then customize closed cell foam to their foot position. It lacks adjustability, but saves some ounces...

I've read that "Snap Dragon" makes good backbands, but don't have any actual experience with those...
