I use my Thule racks with the blue styrofoam kayak pads (perfect match to the chine of my CLC CH 17LT). The foam I got slips right onto the bars and I use straps to hold the boat on with a bow a stern line as extra insurance. I've had great success so far. The foam was about $20 total where as the kayak saddles I saw were about $90.
