I tried cutting rings of foam about 1/2 inch wide from foam pipe insulation and attaching them to a paddle using black cable ties. Once the foam got wet it got slippery and eventually fell out. However, I found that if I used the cable ties by themselves and really snugged them up tight, they worked just as well.
