bram,

the comment about hammering boats was a crude attempt at humor, but thanks for reinforcing the idea of making test panels. Last year I made about 3 dozen different panel in various combinations of glass, polyester cloth, kevlar, linear carbon tape,glass tape, polyester cloth tape,kevlar tape,etc. I didn't make any scarf/butt comparisons but I had a great time destroying all of them, the experience left me making smaller fillets and applying cloths more judiciously as needed. Certainly reinforced the idea that "just enough" is much better than "more is better"
