I haven' tried to put it in the hatch. I didn't plan on trying to. The yokes are screwed to the bottom plate and to the upper suport. if those were removable I am sure it would fit. The yokes are just 2 X 2 's forming a flatened "v" with a strip of fire hose ( carpet would work fine ) to act as a sling. Nothing fancy, but it works great in the sand with its wide track and wide tires. Some of the older pull carts have narrow tires which wouldn't work so great in sand.
The supports on my cart are plastic. Some of the other pull carts are all alluminum and probably much stronger than mine although mine is plenty sturdie and stable. If you are not a golfer or x-golfer a good source are garage sales. Mine cost #30 new a few years ago and is by no means a top of the line.
