Hi TK,

The coaming/rear deck height on the coho is also high. These boats are designed to carry lots of stuff and a high rear deck is a simple consequence of that,as well as uncomplicated plywood construction. A back band is a good addition, although your back will still stop at the coaming. A "Bomber" back band is very good.

One of the things that will make your hip snap more effective is to make sure that you are well connected by hips and thighs. Carve pads for hips that press over your hip bones, so that you have to tilt your hips to get into the seat, also make sure that there is NO slop side to side. Next, for thigh pads make wedge shaped pads that enable you to stay in the boat and not simply press into kneecaps. All of this will make a hip snap much more effective.
