I'm 6'-6",185, and have the exact same problem. I made it a bit more comfortable by rounding over the edge of the coaming so it doesn't dig into my back so much while rolling. If I had to do it over, I'd definitely install a recessed coaming. It wouldn't be all that hard to do as a winter project, either.
