I have to second this post. I built my Tern last winter/spring, and my two phone conversations with Pygmy were very helpful. They also don't advertise these boats as custom kits--they're very basic, but beautiful.

As to Pygmy's owner being resistant to suggestions, I think that's hard to avoid. The guy's been building kayaks for over 20 years and selling kits longer than anyone else. They're most likely doing it this way because it works for the largest number of users. These kits are ripe for custom improvements, but that's where we come in!

Speaking of the Pygmy seat, I also have problems with my butt going to sleep after 1/2 hour or so. If anyone has some good suggestions for alternatives, I'd love to hear about them...
