custom seats

I saw in the archives that someone made a custom molded fiberglass seat by sitting in a box full of sand. Lining the impression with plastic (garbage bag or plastic wrap i guess) and then glassing over the bag.
Does anybody else have experience here in this. any reasons it wouldn't work.
or is anyone willing to mold their production boats seat for me for a reasonable fee. My butt seems to like the current designs style a bit more than dagger/perception.
would love any advice or help.
