can still see the weave from the glass tape on a couple of the

John, I built a coho last fall, not sure what you mean "can still see" Are you two feet away? One foot , Six feet? When I built one I was at first pleased with the hard plastic (mylar?) sheets used to cover the curing butt joint, but later discovered small 1/8" voids here and there. When one of the joints broke with mishandling I made a bias strip of cloth,sanded the existing 4oz tape away and glued it on. So yes, I can see where the original tape is, and where my repair is (which looks a little better) but I wonder if this is one of those things like not noticing the wire holes anymore, in otherwords are you stuck visually? Keep on going , the boat will still be beautiful. Most of the time even folks that build kayaks won't pick up on the stuff that you notice about your boat.
