i have been contemplating whether i should add (and design?) a skeg for my guillemot exp. single.

i suppose that the drawbacks of the skeg include reduced storage , installation, weight, drag( even with skeg up , the box opening would disrupt the flow , wouldnt it?)

this is a touchy topic , but i have no choice but take your advice on the tracking of the g-mot . i must install the skeg before i join the two halves.

i am always hearing that a skeg or rudder shouldnt be used in place of skilled paddling

i have a hard time keeping course with my yare and dont want the same with the g-mot.

i figure that i dont have much to lose by adding the skeg , i built a rudder from scrap aluminium and brake cables , so i think the two relate in construction.

does any one have ideas for a skeg blade shape i plan t ouse 1/8" ply and glass. i have seen some blades with lead and following edges parallel
