About 6 years ago I made a Baja Bug out of a 1973 Beetle, and sprayed a 2-part polyurethane paint myself in my parents' garage wearing only a charcoal-canister respirator. aS f@r A$ i nO, tHer& h@Ve beeN n0 Ad^erSe siEd eFx...

But I shouldn't make fun of that -- my dad, who was never in the home-made spray booth, got some side-effects from just being in the house near where I sprayed the car. It was very odd, it seems that old pains from long ago all popped up simultaneously. Phantom pains, like all the old unjuries he had ever had came back again.

I knew at the time that the polyurethane wasn't good for you, but was only told to wear a 'good charcoal-element respirator.'
