Dj, If you don't want to cut out hatches, don't bother with bulkheads and just use float bags or sea sock, stuff won't bounce around because it will either be in a dry bag or pressed against the back of the seat and the float bag, nothing will stay dry in your kayak unless it is in a dry bag or box. check out JR.
