Are you thinking of HVLP sprayers stirring up dust or "spray-paint"-type cans?
If you have that much dust nearby, you're going to drag your sleeve through it and stir it up just as much. If you take as many dust control precautions as you do for a good brushed finish, I would think it would work.
A little rattle can doesn't put out enough flow to disturb dust on the floor. If you have dust on the surface you're painting, you already have problems developing in your finish.
