Hi dennis, The seats were fixed. Yes it would take more figuring than simply bolting on a hung seat. Talk about exclusivity, a custom sliding seat. I think the next seat I make will have some kind of decorative fabric. further off the subject, after paddling the Max I wish there was a "narrow" Max, the Express is great but I think a longer waterline and sharper entry would make a neat boat.
