The Night Heron project is on hold right now (due to circumstances within my control, but too boring to tell about) but as I plan the future of the project, I want to do it without staples. It seems that the hardest part of building without staples is not being able to do more than one strip at a time, due to the long time that the glue takes to cure.

I've built tons of model airplanes with CA (cyanoacrylate, or super glue) and though gluing one's fingers together is never fun, it seems like a great answer to this problem. It's gap-filling, clear, quick-curing, and strong - has anyone used it before on a boat? I'm worried about cost (it's very expensive), most have toxic fumes, but these are known problems. The unknown is longevity - how will CA's hold up to long time stress and U.V. exposure? Or will spar varnish protect the glues from the sun?

Basically, I'd love to hear from anyone with experience with this glue either in boats or other similar-type applications. The time saved might be worth the extra cost, I have a great workshop and fumes won't be a problem, but the longevity issue's a big one - I'd hate to be off the coast of Point Reyes and find myself floating in a mess of matchsticks.
