I just realized last night that I have at least 2 areas literally staring at me where I could use this technique. So I spent my building time last evening by chipping away at the forms to lower their profile by 1/4" in these areas. (careful of those adjacent strips!) I can foresee downsides:
- I will have to fair the inside a bit where I'm lapping so that the strips join with minimal gaps.
- I may have to make the strips slightly less wide.
- Upon glassing, it will be difficult to get the glass to lay flat at the difference in plane.
However, I think it will be interesting so we'll have to see what happens.
